It was a foggy winter morning in Dhaka city and we were getting prepared for our visit to heavenly Sylhet. On the very day, we got up from bed early in the morning, too much early to be mentioned. We, the girls started to make some breakfast and roast some chicken so that we can have it on our way. All of us got fully prepared very quickly as there was on-going excitement in the air. We have got our tickets beforehand. The train was supposed to arrive at Kamalapur Railway Station, the largest railway station of Bangladesh situated near the Motijheel commercial area. As we were aware about the severe traffic of Dhaka city, we started for the railway station very early. It took nearly two and a half hours to reach there. As soon as we reached there, we hurried to the platform. But the train had not arrived by then and all of us were very hungry too. So we bought some snacks and a magazine from the nearby stores, sat beside the platform and started waiting to hear the rhythmic sound of the train. The train arrived one hour later. We got into it, searched and took our seats. Me, along with my mother choose the window seat so that we could have a great view of outside. My younger brother choose to read story books throughout the journey. The sun shone brightly overhead and we were heading towards the beautiful green countryside of Bangladesh. The compartment presented a nice view and so did the scenario outside. There were green paddy fields, huts, cottages, open sky and rivers all around. Milk - white cranes and other beautiful birds were resting, flying and singing here and there. I kept on clicking photos with my android phone and I had some beautiful views of sunset over green paddy fields. As night arrived, there was nothing but silence all around and it seemed that one can hear his own heartbeats. Sometimes through the silence, there was a sweet fragrance of tea leaves all around. It was late night when we arrived at Sylhet. So we just checked into the hotel room, had our dinner and slept quietly.
The next morning, we woke up early. After getting freshened up and having our breakfast, we got into the bus heading towards Jaintapur. Jaintapur is the palace of ancient Jain kings who ruled the region once. The palace belonged to one of the greatest princesses of the history, Princess Iraboti. Her house, along with some of her belongings is still preserved here. After spending sometime with the ancient history, we hired a leguna and started for Sripur picnic spot. The picnic spot was a real awesome place to visit. It has a beautiful lake with flowers all over it and one can also enjoy an eye-catching view of Meghalaya from here. There are also green tea gardens and you will be surprised to hear the sound of horses now and then. It is a really amazing view here with the deer with affectionate eyes. The whole picnic spot is surrounded by hills and one can enjoy a jeep ride through them. As for me, I have done my first hill climbing here. So, the visit was a real memorable one of my life.
After Sripur, we got into the bus again and started for Jaflong. As far as I am concerned, Jaflong is the dearest beauty of Bangladesh. Though the road from Sripur to Jaflong was not much comfortable, all the tiredness vanished away as soon as we had the first view of Jaflong. The thing that catches your eyes instantly is the Mari river emerging from the majestic Himalayas. It is a real cool and quiet river and one can enjoy a boat ride here. Go a little bit forward and you will reach the zero point. It is a really awesome place to enjoy. Spring water from the waterfalls of nearby Khasia hills flow over the stones. The water is cold, fresh and clear and you can enjoy a bath in the river. You can also take a boat ride through the river to the Khasia [one kind of tribal people of Bangladesh] villages on the other side of the river. You can take a horseride or just enjoy the sun sitting quietly on the white rocks just like a sea beach. The sunset over Mari river presents such an amazing view you will never forget. The water looks just like melt gold and the boatmen treasure hunters. There is a forest beside the river and if you go inside it, you can get to see various beautiful wild animals such as zebras, giraffs etc.
Sylhet also has a majestic waterfall named Madhabkunda in Baralekha sub district. The water comes down with a great speed from a height of 220 feet. She is the highest waterfall of Bangladesh and presents an outstanding beauty. Her rhythmic symphony, white beauty, greener and greener hills all around and above all - the natural silence and harmony makes Madhabkunda one of my most recommended places to visit in Bangladesh. You can reach here by a two hour bus journey from Sylhet city. But it is better to visit Madhabkunda during the rainy season than in the winter like me because the waterfall presents herself with her full-fledged beauty when she gets the blessings of the rain of Bangladesh all around her.

Sylhet is mainly known for its fantastic green tea gardens. So, the next morning we decided to go to Srimangal to visit the tea gardens. We took a bus from the city and it was a real long journey to Srimangal. We had to go through the Dhaka - Sylhet highway and the beautiful highway just snatched away my mind. There were green trees on both sides of the road and the road itself was extremely silent. One can get introduced to oneself travelling through such a beautiful highway.... A mild breeze was blowing all around which refreshed our mind totally. On the way, we came across a battlefield of our historic Liberation War of 1971. It was really an outstanding experience to pass through the place and imagine our heroic soldiers fighting against pak army. The whole thing leaves one ardent desire - "If I could be there..."
When we reached Srimangal, it was already noon. The sun was shining overhead and we got down from the bus. Then we hired a CNG and started for the tea gardens. There are many tea gardens in Srimangal but not each one of them is open for general public. We went to the tea garden of BTRI ( Bangladesh Tea Research Imstitute) which is open for all. It was green beauty all around us. The fragrance of fresh tea leaves, the wind and the green and blue nature along with the majestic beauty of the hills really made my day. After that, we went to visit Lawachara rain forest - an evergreen forest with various kind of wild animals. It is situated a few kilometres away from Srimangal. The place is very quiet and you can feel the true essence of forest here. Birds are chirping continuously and you can also find some Khasia villages here. There is a rail line through the forest and together it presented an awesome view of life and living of the people of Bangladesh.
The next morning, we started for home and reached Dhaka while the sun was already setting in the western horizon. It was the same old Dhaka again - with the din and bustle, noise and silence, happiness and sadness of life. Whatever will happen in the future, I don't know. But in the depth of my heart I know that - this trip has really reshaped my life and my thoughts. It was really a turning point to enjoy, live and share...
